Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford, an American actress and singer. The first Broadway parts included Wicked Legally Blonde & Hair. In her performance as Essie in You Can't Take It With You she was awarded the Tony Award. Tony Award-winning actor Annaleigh Ashford has spent her career working alongside renowned actors and directors across stage film and television and she is continuing her award-winning collaboration with a variety of upcoming projects. Ashford is next seen opposite Kumail Nannjiani on Robert Siegel's Hulu Limited Series Welcome to Chippendales premiering November 22. Ashford is currently working on the film of Searchlight Pictures' terror thriller Dust with Sarah Paulson. The film is part of a Hulu Original and will be streaming on Disney DTC. Ashford will return to Broadway in the month of March 2023 with the role of Josh Groban opposite Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. The production takes place located at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. Thomas Kail as director and Jeffrey Seller as producer will be the creative team for the show. Ashford has most recently played Paula Jones in the new Ryan Murphy FX series American Crime Story Impeachment which is based on the national crisis that swept up Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky and Linda Tripp as principal characters as the nation's first impeachment trial in more than one century. Her two seasons on CBS show B Positive was her first big role. The show was developed by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre with the legendary Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. Ashford, who is not unfamiliar with Broadway won both Tony Drama Desk Awards as well as Outer Critics Circle Awards in the role as Essie. Sunday in the Park with George Wicked legally blonde and the originating part of Lauren in Kinky Boots were among her other Broadway performances. Ashford was raised and born in Denver and currently splits her life between Los Angeles, and New York.
