She came back into Pickler's life in 1995 and was given custody of her. However it did not go well. The grandparents of Pickler raised her from 12 to she reached adulthood. Pickler was busy with raising her younger siblings in the absence of parents. She admitted she no longer had time to learn and she began to understand how to become a housekeeper in her early years.
